Thomas the Farmer Turkey was my first drafted pattern for Quilt in a Day. This is by far the funniest marketing campaign I've had the pleasure to be part of!!! He was inspired by my art days in kindergarten. We made simple turkey outlines from our hands and Thomas was created with that concept in mind. He is a customer fav and a for sure holiday pleasure. For a limited time while they have the Fun on the Farm block party going you can see some of the groups work with the link below.
The campaign was created in 2019. The quilters and I worked together to draft instructions for replication. We have sold over 10,000 Fun on the Farm patterns/kits. Quilt in a Day offers fabric kits along with the pattern for purchase or customers can download the free pattern.
This is the pattern completed in InDesign and the tree was a custom graphic from one of my graphic collections.
Meet Bessy, they are one of the 12 farm inspired quilt patterns. Everyone is encouraged to improvise or follow the patterns completely. We often give the quilters credit on our main Quilt in a Day and Eleanor Burns facebook page that has over 120k followers which is well above the average group size.
Fun on the Farm currently has over 14k facebook members that continue to share their inspiration and passion for this craft with one another.
This is the last Log Cabin Book from Quilt in a Day and I am very proud to have been part of the editing process. Our Sr. Designer and I worked together with InDesign files, charts, and illustrations in order to complete the project. It took roughly six months from start to finish.
A huge marketing campaign and facebook group following. Below is Quilt in a Day's "Sew Many Notions" quilter's block party. Quilters around the globe all come together and make the same quilt blocks. Over the years this facebook group of gals and guys sits at around 5k members. It was a lot of fun working with the quilters and I made all the downloadable patterns. They do offer the fabric kits that include the pattern and free downloads. This is something they will eventually discontinue.
The seamless pattern below was created with photoshop with individual pngs of the elements. The quilt designers and I worked together to ensure clear instructions.

I had the pleasure on editing and helping to publicize "Make a Quilt in a Day Log Cabin Pattern" book! It's their last installation of the Log Cabin book. Unfortunately time isn't on our side and Eleanor is living her best life! Quilt in a Day will continue to on with their warehouse and store front but the trajectory of making books has changed. It was a pleasure working with the art department to make this publication happen.
This was my first packaging assignment and it was with AURIfil! It's was sewwww much fun! Ironically my grandmother was a quilter and I know she is living through me! The floral illustrations were made in Illustrator and the layout was done in InDesign for AURIfil. Quilt in a Day also does wholesale and you can find this thread at various quilt shops and online stores. Click the image to see the product.
Currently their best seller and the second packaging project conquered. This packaging layout was already predetermined from all their prior products on the market. Quilt in a Day has over 40 rulers and 160 publications.
Eleanor is a performer as well as the founder of Quilt in a Day. She lives in Julian, CA and holds annual quilting themed events and shows in the quaint small town.
Marketing email campaigns are the main driving force as more and more people turn to E-Commerce platforms. We typically send out three emails a day and the font size is larger than because that's what their customer base is use to. It was a challenge at first due to the typography restrictions you learn but every entity is different and this is what works for them.
The following are current or former banners for Quilt in a Day.
This has been an amazing first opportunity within my graphic design career but this is just beginning and I cannot wait to see what the future has in store. Sew many great laughs and memories. I've had the pleasure to work with two labs here and it's been amazing!
